Awake at dawn, with barely any sleep, I had a long and scenic day ahead starting from Dumnadrochit. Running alongside Loch Ness, I popped on my Nessie hat and set off early. The sun wasn’t long up and the wind blowing over the loch helped take my mind off the pain, if only for a short while.
After passing Loch Ness I found myself on some very long straight roads, nice driving roads but not much to write home about.
With Bessie the barrel always fighting me on up/downhill slopes it was good to see some relatively flat ground.
I met a Swiss tourist who was soon to be heading back from his sightseeing tour of Scotland, he thought I was crazy but I’m starting to get used to that!
At the end of the day I was ready for my now familiar bucket of ice/painkiller combo before jumping into bed, hoping to get some sleep before the next marathon. Tomorrow I’m on to Fort William and soon after, flatter ground!
